OCC Fab Floss

This week, I'm hosting at Our Creative Corner!

My challenge is to incorporate embroidery floss into your project. I just LOVE using floss every chance I can get! I have so many colors, it's easy to get them to match whatever I'm working on.

My card uses floss in greys and yellows, and I simply knotted each color- no bows necessary!

I took inspiration from Cath's Tuesday Trigger this week. Thanks for checking it out, and I hope you link up at Our Creative Corner!

Embellish Crochet Trim

Another last-minute post. I tend to do these a lot- ya know...when I post minutes before a card challenge is due.

I actually have about 40 minutes until the Embellish challenge closes, so that's not tooooo bad. I hope to add a better pic tomorrow :)

The challenge is to use the above colors, as well as incorporate crochet trim. I didn't have any crochet trim, so I made my own by crocheting some embroidery floss. I'm so sorry, but I forgot to save the link to the pattern online. It was fairly easy to create, only using single and double crochets in addition to the chains.

Tough to see in the photo (there will be a close-up sometime tomorrow), but I also used embroidery floss to sew little french knots in the centers of the flowers I cut. Here's the finished card:

Remember the 300th post giveaway from last week? I used random.org to select a winner....

You'll be getting really cute felt alphabet stickers from Making Memories, and some fun rub-ons from BoBunny. If I don't hear from you within one week, I'll select another winner.

Thanks to everyone who left comments!

Happy for You

Hi, I'm here with a cute card for SP and Company's Design Team Wednesday! I knew I wanted to make a baby card using some fun boy colors. The lime green is my favorite!

I made a little hanger out of wire for the onesie, and hooked it over some wrapped twine. I knew I needed another little touch near the button, when I remembered the Moxie Fab World Challenge to use tissue paper. I pleated some and added it behind the kraft panel.

I used the Mini Card Creations II set from SP and Company, which has many sentiments for different occasions:

Thanks for stopping by!

OCC Easel Card

Happy Saturday! I'm excited to share this week's Our Creative Corner challenge...our hostess Vicki wants us to make easel cards!

When I first heard the challenge, I didn't know what an easel card was. A quick google search later gave me beautiful examples to look at, and many tutorials. I made a very CAS square card, perfect for Mother's Day!

Check it out:
Hope you can play along this week at Our Creative Corner!

Thanks for all you do

(this is my 2nd post of the day, scroll down for the first, or click here)

I wanted to get some last-minute crafting done before I go visit my brother and sister-in law for the weekend. I just love the look of the Tuesday Trigger this week, and knew I wanted to incorporate flowers and soft colors.

I am also playing along with Lily Pad cards, and the challenge is to make a card using a frame and 3D adhesive. Although I don't have the cool Globecraft bubbles, I made a frame of trees out of cardstock, and used foam adhesive to layer it over some pretty patterned paper.

The sentiment was stamped onto vellum and suspended between 2 of the trees.

Pysanky?

As part of an Easter package (amongst Godiva bunnies and Jelly Belly), my in-laws mailed me a hand-painted blown egg. Although not pysanky, it certainly reminded me of the Ukrainian eggs, which have always amazed me.

I recently saw on the Craftzine blog that someone had made faux pysanky eggs using Sharpies. Brilliant! I knew I just had to do it for Easter. I blew out 2 eggs, cleaned and dried them out, then got to work. I wish I used my ruler to plan out the design, but at the time it was more of an experiment and I wanted to get started as soon as possible! My perfectionist self can see every flaw, but I still think I did a good job...here they are:

The 2nd one is definitely my favorite! Have any of you ever done psyanky? Also, have you ever seen the egg-bot? Cool, but definitely does not have that hand-made quality to it.

I wonder if you can rubber stamp on eggs....

300th Post!

Woohoo! I can't believe I made it to 300. (And no, I didn't post so many times today just so I could get to 300!)

In honor of the 300th post, I'll mail some stuff to a random commenter. "What is the stuff?" you ask? Well....I don't know yet. Mostly because I just decided 2 minutes ago to have a giveaway. So you will just have to have faith in me that it will be something cool...or useful. Not sure which. Haha. I'll give you a week to comment.

Well anyway....on to my card. As a new member of the SP and Co design team, Sami was kind enough to send us some digis to play with until we receive some goodies in the mail. I don't know much about using digis. The only other time I used any was here, and it ended up being pretty fun!

I knew I wanted to use some of the funny mustaches from the "Hey Mister!" set, so I printed them onto brown cardstock, and carefully cut around each. I also printed the sentiment that comes with the set, this time on kraft.

My color combo comes from the current Color Cue challenge!

Butterfly Art

You can probably tell when I have off from work- I do so many more posts! Sorry if they are infecting your inbox/google reader.

This project is for the Moxie Fab World's Home Decor challenge. I made a really simple framed wall hanging. I took a piece of grey 12x12 paper, punched lots and lots of butterflies, and glued 'em on. Easy!

Matchbook Notebook

This morning I made a small matchbook-style notebook for the Moxie Fab World Little Gifts challenge. I took some patterned cardstock and folded it into the matchbook shape. I cut a bunch of sheets of plain printer paper to fit on the inside, and stitched everything together across the bottom.

I needed to use my heavy-duty needle and thread to get through all of the layers, and even with that, I was a little scared of breaking the needle. I embellished the front simply with a decorative frame and the initials of the recipient.

I'm also linking up for the Etsy Inspired Challenge. The paper reminds me of this pink and white trim from Creating is Fun's shop!

Happy Easter card

Above are my 2 sources of inspiration for this card, coming from Off the Wall Craftiness and colourQ. I love all of the springtime colors I've been seeing everywhere recently, and it was fun to put them into my card.

I used my new Wilson Designs stamp, the banner from Nauti-cool, that I won from Kim's release. So much fun!

We can't all be royalty....

Did any of you enter Paper Craft Magazine's Stamping Royalty contest? I made 3 cards, and sadly, none were selected. I didn't expect to win, since there were so many submissions. When the "royal family" was finally announced, I was so happy to see some of my favorite crafter/bloggers were there!

Amber at Damask Love is once again hosting a Reject Blog Hop. (almost doesn't seem fair since she was picked! haha). Here are my beloved rejects:
